Advocacy Services
I have attended or chaired more than 1,000 team meetings and have written hundreds of IEPs. I have extensive knowledge of the special education process, from the initial evaluation request through a student’s transition out of special education.
I offer a range of advocacy services, including reviewing educational records, IEPs, and evaluation reports, consulting with families, assisting with communication to school teams, attending team meetings, and providing guidance on placement decisions.
Tutoring
I take the time to assess each student’s current skills and identify specific areas to target through tutoring. I also make it a priority to understand each student’s work habits, learning style, and interests to build on strengths involve them in the learning process.
I have extensive experience tutoring students in reading, including comprehension, decoding, fluency, and sight word acquisition; writing, including spelling, paragraph and essay structure, editing, and proofreading; and mathematics, including problem-solving, fact fluency, computation, and number sense.
I also provide general homework and organizational support, and guidance in developing executive functioning skills.
Academic Assessments
I have conducted more than 300 academic evaluations and have extensive experience administering assessments and interpreting results to better understand each student’s strengths and areas of need.
I offer assessments in reading, writing, and mathematics using a variety of evaluation tools, including the WIAT-4, Gray Oral Reading Tests, Test of Written Language, Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing, Test of Word Reading Efficiency, Test of Early Reading, Test of Early Written Language, and KeyMath-3.
I also partner with a clinical psychologist to provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations.
Observations
Throughout my career, I have spent countless hours in classrooms observing students and teachers across many local school districts. I understand the value of seeing a student in their everyday learning environment.
